2472 1933 (June) Bradbury Wilkinson & Co. Recess Printed Trials for the 1/2d.: Two essays based on the existing Mackennal ‘Dolphins’ design then in current use. The first design has a ‘small’ crown over the King’s head and is printed in red-brown, the second design is much closer to the issued definitive 1Žd. and is in pale red-brown, each is perforated 15 x 14 on gummed paper watermarked Royal cypher (British Empire Exhibition - ‘Wembley’ paper), very fine and fresh with part or large part original gum. These essays were examples of Bradbury’s ability to produce excellent stamps by recess printing, both quickly and cheaply.
